LENS REPLACEMENT

Prescription Checklist for Replacement Eyeglass Lenses

Prepare prescription and fitting details, understand the email or manual entry routes, and avoid guessing missing values when ordering replacement lenses.

THE SHORT ANSWER

What should you know first?

For prescription lens replacement, prepare the prescription as supplied and any fitting information requested for your design. Use the form’s email or manual-entry route. Do not guess missing values or infer measurements from the frame size; ask the optical team how to complete the request.

Gather the information before opening the form

Keep a legible prescription document available and check the identity and right/left eye information. Know which frame you intend to send and whether its structure is sound. A frame model marking is useful for identifying the pair, but it is not the same as prescription or fitting information.

Emailing your prescription

The lens form includes a route to email the prescription to sales@vintageoptika.com. After submitting an accepted order, include its number so the team can match the document correctly. Do not send a prescription without enough reference information and assume it has been attached. If you do not receive an order number or confirmation, contact the team before resubmitting.

Entering values manually

The manual fields identify right eye as OD / R and left eye as OS / L. Copy only the values supplied for the relevant fields, including signs. A blank, a zero and an unknown value are not automatically interchangeable. If the document has a notation you cannot map confidently, use the email route or ask for help instead of translating it yourself.

PD and fitting details

Pupillary distance and design-specific fitting information can be separate from the power values. A lens design may require information that is not on the prescription document. Do not substitute the frame’s printed dimensions for those measurements. Ask the team what it needs and how that information should be provided before production.

When to use the advice route

If you are uncertain about the lens design, select Not sure to request a consultation. This is different from a full order and does not authorize mailing the frame. The design comparison explains the available categories; it does not prescribe which one you should use.

Finish the order and wait for the shipping instructions

After choosing the available standard options, review the live estimate and submit the required details. Use the free prepaid inbound label after the full order is accepted. Include the order number in the parcel, but do not publicly share prescription documents or personal details. See packing and mailing and the full lens process.

Common questions

Can I email the prescription instead of typing it?

Yes. Use the route shown in the form and include the accepted order number when emailing sales@vintageoptika.com.

Can I use the numbers printed inside the frame as PD?

No. Frame dimensions and pupillary distance are different information. Ask the team how to provide any missing fitting details.

What should I do with a value I cannot read?

Do not guess. Use a legible document or ask the team to clarify how to provide the information.
